| Ok here is the scoop. with high temps sweaty riding and sweaty water bottles there needs to be a few things looked at from time to time. Bottom brackets rust inside the bottom bracket shell. Cure: remove it and either grease it up with some good waterproof grease or anti seize...also your pedals too. Then you should always inspect your cables that run down the down tube and the top tube for rust or corrosion. Also the screws that hold your bottle cages should be coated in grease or anti seize too also your Front Derailleur keep it lubed. I have see frames destroyed from sweat, once your Bottom Bracket is seized in it will not come out. You can take a chance on ruining the threaded shell and on carbon or aluminum bike. It is more common for steel and aluminum to corrode from sweat and would sure hate to waist a frame when all you have to do is remove inspect and re install with grease or anti seize. Also using T9 Bioshield frame saver will prevent rust and corrosion inside your frame Visually inspect where sweat and water bottle condensation falls look for chipping paint or rust an sign of it spray PB Blast and let it soak up then try to remove that part, this will hep your bike last lots longer...Any questions please feel free to contact me. Happy riding |
